How things are
All told, things are going well. I'm able to keep things together and stay strong for my family, and I'm happy most of the time. Sometimes things just overwhelm me. I heard this story on the radio a few months ago, while drive to Baltimore to fly out, I guess to the MFO or something. Who knows. I started sobbing in the car. For some reason, I thought about it again today (I think I saw that there are podcasts from This American Life, so I had to look it up). When I found it, I just started crying again. And then I listened to it. And I started sobbing again. Mainly because this is the way things are going to be. Not for a few years, of course, but still...
Anyway, it's a beautiful story of a woman who's husband has something similar to what Dad has and how she and her son are dealing with things. It's haunting. It starts somewhere around 46:05 minutes.
Wow. What a downer! Here's a happier link. Dolly Parton has an amazing new video staring none other than Amy Sedaris (who at one point seems to channel Jerri Blank). Fantastic.
