Well it's about time...

Everyone else has been doing it, so why not me. Long, long ago, I learned that often crazier things happen to me than to other people. Maybe this will help me remember them. Even better, I'll finally have a forum to rant, keeping me from screaming on street corners for a few more days.

A very busy few weeks

Well, I'm completely installed in Matt's apartment for the next few weeks. Already it has been a very busy time. In fact, the last few weeks have been a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but almost all for good reasons.

On the 4th, Tim and I celebrated 4 years together. We went to a little placed called Miel. The food was delicious, and we had a very good time. It's really amazing how different we both are than when we started dating. It's even more amazing that he's put up with me for 4 years!

That weekend, I had my 5th college reunion. I saw a ton of friends whom I haven't seen in at least 5 years, and it was very bittersweet to see many of them. In some ways, a lot of them represented paths not taken, and it's hard for me to think about how there are choices that I have made that closed other doors. On the other hand, it was also wonderful to catch up with old friends and to reconnect, especially with my roommates from freshman year.

After that, it's been work-work-work. I'm doing a project with Mike and one with Jacob. Both of them are very difficult, and both of my coauthors are so much better than I that it can be a little daunting. I've read hundreds and hundreds of pages of dense material not in my field to try to get a better understanding of what's going on and what we need to do. *whew*.

This past weekend, Tim and I drove up to Lake George to see my aunt and uncle's 25th / 45th wedding / first date anniversary. We had a really great time up there. It was relaxing. We went for a short walk and we played some tennis. Good times! It's always a little tough seeing my family, though, since my dad is getting worse and my mom is having a tougher and tougher time dealing with it. From this perspective, it wasn't the best time, but we were able to get past that and do things like play putt putt with my dad and sister. All told, this was also a great weekend!

Alright. Time to start the day in earnest. Doug Ravenel is in town to work with Mike and me on some projects. It'll be a crazy busy time!
